CRANE OPERATIONS PERMIT APPLICATION


Crane operations within the vicinity (20kms) of Darwin Aerodrome have the potential to create air safety hazards and may affect airport operations. To protect Darwin Airport’s airspace, all crane activities are required by law to be assessed and approved under the Commonwealth Airports (Protection of Airspace) Regulations 1996 before it can be carried out.

3. CONDITIONS OF USE

Crane Operator to read, understand and acknowledge the below permit conditions of use.

  1. Certify that the information provided on this form is accurate and correct;

  2. Agree to notify the DIA Operations Department on 08 8920 1852 of any changes to the above particulars including when Crane Operations have been completed earlier than the advised completion time;

  3. Confirm the crane will be lowered outside the daily hours of advised operations;

  4. Understand if requested by DIA Operations, crane operations are required to be lowered immediately during periods of low visibility or for arriving/departing aircraft;

  5. Understand that not complying with the DIA Operation Department directives may result in future crane operation permit applications not being approved;

  6. Understand it is an offence under Section 183 of the Airports Act 1996 to carry out, without approval, crane operations which intrude into airport’s protected airspace;

  7. Understand it is an offence under Section 185 of the Act to contravene any conditions imposed on an approval;

  8. Understand it is also an offence under Section 186 of the Act not to give information to the DIA that is revelant to a proposed crane activity.

4. OLS ASSESSMENT CALCULATIONS
* If YES, follow the PRO. Consider lower height options. If the operator wishes to continue at the infringing height, advise further action is required and continue to submit your report. This will be double checked and then submitted to the Airside Manager to proceed with an Airservices Assessment.
